Search Engines I am constantly being asked how to get a higher listing in a search engine and I always have to say that I am not an expert and as far as I can tell there are no guarantees no matter what you try. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try however, and there are a few things that I know search engines like. There are people who offer to get your page to the top for a price and I would like to know if any of these really work. If you have had any experience with these please with comments, good or bad, and I will make up a page with the results if I get enough. There are 4 things that you must consider when promoting your site for search engines.
LINKS Google and other search engines use 'bots' to find the information and sites for their listings These 'bots' use links on web pages to find their way around and the more links you have, coming and going, the higher value they give your page. Try to exchange links with as many people as possible as long as it doesn't destroy the look of your page. A separate "links" page can be a good idea as long as you make sure you have a link to it somewhere on your registered page. Let us help each other out. If you register your url with me on this page I will give you a piece of code to tuck somewhere on your page (probably way at the bottom) This will add a small graphic to the page which links to this page and also the last 10 people who registered. 
Google will notice and follow these links giving you 11 extra to and fro direct links but will also link you back and forth through this page to everyone on the list. List of sites already registered. Edit your profile. Retrieve your page code. |
